LID Assistance to Developers |
|
Hands Across the Lake supported Roseland at its zoning hearing because of its LID proffers. The county in 2008 abandoned its desire for stricter phosphorus standards in favor of LID. HAL's position is that LID is better in these soils than conventional BMP technology. The critical variables are the percent of runoff treated by LID and how many trees are saved in the buffers. Zero pollution can be achieved at lowest cost to developers. Read about this in the “Get the Water into the Ground” section on Lacey, WA. For the new 7 acre site of Ed Nunnally across from the new Walmart on Hull Street, we encouraged him to use more LID techniques via roof design, rain gardens, etc. Norma Szakal, a HAL Board Member, drafted proffer language to include in the zoning case.
